Nationwide EICV7 Dissemination

NISR conducts EICV7 Dissemination Workshops Across the country bringing together Governors, Mayors and other stakeholders.

The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) has embarked on a nationwide dissemination program to share the key findings from the Seventh Integrated Household Living Conditions Survey (EICV7). The workshops, held in the Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern provinces, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders to examine district-level data on poverty and other socio-economic indicators.

The dissemination events are attended by Governors, Mayors of all districts, representatives of security organs, development partners, faith-based organizations, NGOs, and private sector actors. These forums serve as an important platform for dialogue and engagement around the survey results, offering a localized understanding of living conditions and development progress across the country.

The EICV7 findings provide a detailed picture of poverty trends, household well-being, access to basic services, and other key development indicators. By engaging provincial and district leaders alongside with other stakeholders directly, NISR aims to ensure that the data is not only understood but also used to inform policy, programs, and targeted interventions.

"These workshops are more than a presentation of findings; it is an opportunity for collective reflection and action,” said a MURENZI Ivan, Director General of NISR. “We welcome feedback from local government officials and partners, as it helps us to identify priority areas where interventions are most needed to improve the productivity of EICV and other surveys we produce for the development of living conditions of all Rwandans.” He added

The discussions held during these workshops are intended to play a critical role in shaping evidence-based policymaking at both the local and national levels, ensuring that policies and programs are rooted in the realities reflected by the EICV7 data. By bringing together Governors, Mayors, representatives from security organs, development partners, NGOs, faith-based organizations, and the private sector, these sessions foster an inclusive dialogue around the socio-economic status of each district. Participants analyze trends in key indicators such as poverty levels, employment, access to services, and other social economic indicators providing a clearer understanding of where efforts and resources are most needed.

The workshops not only enable stakeholders to align their interventions with local needs but also promote stronger inter-institutional collaboration. Ultimately, these engagements are instrumental in designing targeted, efficient, and impactful strategies to accelerate poverty reduction and support inclusive, equitable development across Rwanda’s provinces.

As NISR continues its dissemination activities, it remains committed to transparency, data accessibility, and stakeholder engagement in the national development agenda.

Rwanda's Labor Force Participation Continues to Grow in 2024

Labour Force

The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) released the 2024 Annual Labor Force Survey Report, revealing steady growth in labor force participation. The report highlights key labor market trends, including an increasing labour force participation and a decline in the population outside the labor force.

According to the findings, Rwanda's working-age population (16 years and above) was estimated at approximately 8.3 million in 2024. Out of this population, around 4.4 million were employed, while 780,000 were unemployed. The remaining 3.1 million individuals were classified as being outside the labor force (such as students, homemakers, retired individuals, or discouraged jobseekers). Overall, around 5.2 million people were either employed or actively looking for job.

The labor force participation rate which represents the percentage of working-age population engaged in the labor market was 62.9% in 2024, up from 59.3% in 2023. At the same time, the number of people outside the labor force decreased from 40.7% in 2023 to 37.1% in 2024.

However, the report also highlights the labour force participation rate  which has consistently been higher among males than females population, The gender gap in labour force participation rate stood at approximately 15.5 percentage points in 2024 remaining relatively stable as compared to the situation in 2023, highlighting the need for continued efforts to enhance gender inclusivity in the workforce.

The findings from the 2024 Labor Force Survey provide essential insights for policymakers, labor market analysts, and stakeholders working to enhance employment opportunities and create more job opportunities in Rwanda. As the labor market evolves, these statistics will play a crucial role in shaping strategies for inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
