According to the AHS 2024 findings, the estimated number of agricultural households is 2.2 million, representing 65.3 % of all households nationwide.
Among them, 88.4 % practice agriculture as their main livelihood activity, while the remainder rely primarily on non-agricultural activities but still engage in crop or livestock production as a supplementary source of income.
The demographic profile indicates that 74.3% of agricultural households are male-headed, while 25.7% are female-headed.
The average household size is 4.4 persons, and the total population living in agricultural households is estimated at 9.6 million (48.3% male and 51.7% female).
Regarding the labor force, about 3.6 million adults are engaged in agricultural activities, with youth (16–30 years) representing only 30.7%.
