Rwanda's CPI increases 1.9 pct in July 2014

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 1.9 percent year on year in July 2014, up from 1.4 percent in June 2014.

In July 2014, “food and non-alcoholic beverages” and Education” rose by 2.4 and 7.1 percent year on year, respectively.

The data also show the “local goods” increased by 2.3 percent on annual change with a monthly change of 0.1 percent.  Besides, the prices of the “imported products” increased by 0.8 percent on annual change with a monthly change of 0.9 percent.

The prices of the “fresh products” had a positive annual change of 2.2 percent between July 2014 and July 2013.
