Rwanda Producer Price Index posts -0.52 pct in Q4, 2018
Rwanda’s general producer price index, combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual decrease of 0.52 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018 compared with the same period of 2017, while on quarterly basis it increased by 0.94 percent compared with the third quarter 2017. The main drivers for these changes were manufacturing, mining and quarrying.
In the meanwhile local index for local products registered an increase of 1.62 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018 compared to the index of the same quarter of 2017, and an increase of 1.57 percent compared to the index of the previous quarter. The main drivers for these changes were manufacturing.
Finally, the index for exports registered a decrease of 6.41 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018 compared to the index of the same quarter of 2017, and a decrease of 1.42 percent compared to the index of the previous quarter. The main drivers for these changes were tea, coffee and non-ferrous metal ores.
