Rwanda's inflation is 17.6 pct year on year in September 2022

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 17.6 percent on annual basis in September 2022 and increased by 2.1 percent on monthly basis (September 2022 to August 2022). 

In September 2022, Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 33.2 percent, ‘Housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ increased by 7.9 percent, Transport increased by 14.5 percent and Restaurants and Hotels increased by 18.8 percent.

The CPI for September 2022 increased by 2.1 percent compared to August 2022. ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 4.8 percent and Transport increased by 1.8 percent.

The underlying inflation rate (excluding fresh food and energy) increased by 13.6 percent when compared to September 2021 and increased by 1.1 percent when compared to August 2022
