Rwanda's CPI up 2.8 pct year on year in June 2015

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen2.8 percent year on year in June 2015, up from 2.2 percent in May 2015.

In June 2015,‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ ,‘Housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ and ‘Transport’ rose by 2.9 percent, 4.5 percent and 1.5 respectively.

The data also show the “local goods” increased by 2.6 percent on annual change and decreased by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 3.3 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.9 percent on a monthly basis.

The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 2.6 percent between June 2015 and June 2014.
