Rwanda's CPI up 6.4 pct year on year in August 2016

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen6.4 percent year on year inAugust2016down from 6.9 percent in July 2016.

In August2016,‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’,‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’and Transport rose by12.0percent,3.0 percent and8.6 percentrespectively.

The data also show the “local goods” increased by 6.8percent on annual change andincreased by 0.5percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 5.5 percent on annual basis andincreased by 0.6 percent on a monthly basis.

The prices of the “fresh products” increased by14.7percent on annual change and increased by 1.2 percent on a monthly basis.
