Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 4.6 percent year on year in May 2016 down from 4.7 percent in April 2016.In May2016, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’, ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’and Transport rose by 6.1percent, 2.9 percent and7.4 percent respectively.

The data also show the “local goods” increased by 4.7percent on annual change andincreased by 0.5 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 4.1 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.6 percent on a monthly basis.

The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 7.3 percent on annual change and increased by 0.5 percent on a monthly basis.
