Mrs. UWAYEZU Beatrice is the Acting Director of the Censuses Unit at the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR), a role she has held since February 2025. 

Previously, she served as Principal Statistician in charge of Population, Team leader of Population and Housing Censuses Statistician, and Population and Housing Census Specialist in 2024. As head of the Population and Housing Census section, she played a key role in the design, organization, execution, and analysis of Rwanda’s fourth and fifth Population and Housing Censuses conducted in 2012 and 2022.

Before joining NISR, she worked at the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning as Education Statistics Manager and Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for the Rwanda-UNFPA 6th Cooperation Program.

Mrs. UWAYEZU holds a Master’s degree in Demography from the Institut de Formation et de Recherches Démographiques (IFORD) in Cameroon.
