High profile speakers attended the Workshop on "Open Access to Statistical Data by NISR and Dissemination of Gender Statistics Report 2013"

The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) in collaboration with UNWOMEN office is organizing a half-day workshop themed “Open access to statistical data by NISR and dissemination of Gender Statistics Report 2013” to take place on 10th May 2012 in SERENA Hotel, Kigali. The workshop has double complementary objective:

I. Gross Domestic Product and its structure by activity

In the year 2012, GDP at current prices was estimated to be Rwf 4,363 billion, up from Rwf 3,814 billion in the year 2011. The Service sector contributed 45% of the GDP compared to 33% and 16% contributed by Agriculture and Industrial sectors respectively.

II. Growth rate by kind of activity

In 2012, the estimates calculated at constant 2006 prices show that GDP went up by 8 percent in real terms.

The Football team of the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda ( NISR)continues to prove that it is at its best in the ongoing sport competition among public institutions in Rwanda.
Three KIST students namely MUNEZA Derrick M, CYAMANI Aziza, and MUGENZI Emma of the Creative Design department, FAED won the NISR Infographic Competition, 2012.

The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) together with the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAGRI) are undertaking the 2012/13 National Agriculture Survey which started since November 2012.

The African Statistics Day (ASD) of every November 18th was adopted in May 1990 by the Twenty-fifth Session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the Sixteenth Meeting of the African Ministers responsible for Economic Planning and Development to be celebrated each year with an objective of increasing public awareness about the important role which statistics play in all aspects of social and economic life on our countries and the continent.

A tripartite agreement has been signed between the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), the Ministry of Local Government (MINALOC) and the National Institute of Statistics (NISR) to join hands in gathering data on service delivery and social welfare.

On 8th October, 2012, the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) and its partners from Public Sector Capacity Building Secretariat (PSCBS), Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC) and the United Nations (UN), will donate computers to Kamonyi District in South Province.
